Yards Bewing Company

The underdog of IPAs

Rival IPA is not a high alcohol palate crusher. We went for bold hop flavors balanced by a firm malt backbone instead.

Rival IPA's label art refers to a Stallone flick from the '80s called "Over The Top."

Here's what happens.

Rival IPA

When it comes to full-bodied IPAs, Rival's complex yet drinkable flavor profile is in a league of its own. Rival recipe starts with a base of Pale Crystal and rye malts, and Bravo and Nugget bittering hops. Then whole flower Chinook hops go into the hopback, extracting that signature pine character. Finally, Rival is dry hopped with Centennial, Citra, Simcoe and Columbus hops, giving this amber-colored IPA a complex citrus profile. Rival IPA's new look pays homage to old school Philly team colors, including a subtle reference to Veteran's Stadium—the former battleground of so many of our city's historic sports rivalries.
